BREAKING: Uganda Passes Life Imprisonment Bill for LGBT People

ELIXHER

Tragic news out of Uganda this afternoon. The country’s parliament has passed an anti-LGBT law that has been under consideration since 2009. Although the piece of legislation does not include the death penalty provision it once did, it punishes “aggravated homosexuality” with life imprisonment.

The original bill was condemned by world leaders and LGBT activists who said it was draconian and United States President Barack Obama described it as odious.

We will continue to follow this story closely and update our readers as details develop.
