Harlow Project Launches Street Harassment Video Campaign
Harlow Project, the producers of the in(HER)view: a conversation with Black women web series announces its latest project about street harassment. The video series will ask people to share their street harassment stories.
Harlow Project will be collaborating with the Brooklyn Movement Center, a community organizing group that brings together residents of Bedford Stuyvesant and Crown Heights to build power and improve community conditions, for their Anti-Street Harassment Chalk Party. We will be at Fulton Park in Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn on Monday, April 8th, 2:30pm-7:30pm. As part of Meet Us On The Street: International Anti-Street Harassment Week, we will be capturing street harassment stories on camera.
If you or someone you know has a street harassment story that they would like to share, meet us at Fulton Park! The park is located on Chauncey Street between Lewis Avenue and Stuyvesant Avenue in Brooklyn.
Harlow Project is seeking people of all ages and backgrounds to participate in this new video series. Harlow Project will conduct man/woman-on-the-street interviews in various cities around the country asking people to share their stories about street harassment whether experienced or witnessed.
“I want young girls, women and members of the LGBT community to know that they are not alone and that as a community, we are not going to tolerate street harassment anymore,” says Harlow Project founder Charla Harlow. “This conversation must happen. Our stories will be told.”
Charla Harlow is a director, producer and photographer. The Syracuse native is currently based in Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, N.Y. Harlow Project’s mission is to produce projects that create a community of consciousness. The goal is to talk to everyday people and give them a platform to share their stories.
