New Janet Mock Heroes Illustrations Give Us Life
Author and trans advocate (and ELIXHER Magazine cover girl) Janet Mock recently announced a collaboration with gay Mexican-born artist Julio Salgado. Yesterday, Mock debuted a series of stunning illustrations embracing her biggest influences. Trans activists Marsha P. Johnson and Miss Major Griffin-Gracy as well as writers Audre Lorde, Zora Neale Hurston and Maya Angelou were among her sources of inspiration. Mock’s memoir, Redefining Realness, left a major impression on the artist. Salgado reached out and asked Mock who pushed her to be the amazing writer that she is. The compilation represents the responses. Check out some of the images below. View the entire collection here.
