Brittney Griner Makes First Slam Dunk in WNBA Playoff History

Out athlete Brittney Griner does it again. Dunking might not be a big deal for the star player who stands at 6′ 8″ but she made history with the first dunk in the WNBA playoffs. The Phoenix Mercury walked away with a 93-68 win over the Los Angeles Sparks in the Western Conference semifinals. On Sunday, August 31, the team plays the Minnesota Lynx (airs on ABC at 3:30pm - 5:30pm ET).

“That’s what I do,” Griner joked. “I dunk.” Watch her work!

Black LGBTQ Women Entertainers Work the Red Carpet

It was a big week for visibility as out entertainers proudly walked the red carpet at the MTV Video Music Awards and the Emmys. Although Orange Is the Black‘s Laverne Cox didn’t nab the Emmy for “Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series,” she wowed us all in a stunning white gown.

Her co-star Samira Wiley also slayed in a bright yellow number. But it was her date, girlfriend and OITNB writer, Lauren Morelli, that had us talking. The adorable couple held on tight that exciting night.

Jennifer Hudson Addresses Lesbian Rumors

We’re loving singer Jennifer Hudson’s response to lesbian rumors. The Grammy winner shared with PrideSource that she caught some flack after she appeared on the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards alongside Macklemore and Mary Lambert for a performance of the hit marriage equality anthem, “Same Love.”

“People were like, ‘Is Jennifer trying to tell us something?’ Hey, I wasn’t, but if you wanna think that, it’s all right with me,” she said. “When I got the call [to do that performance], I was like, ‘Oh my God, I definitely wanna do this. A powerful statement is being made and I wanna be a part of that.’”

Love it!
