Laverne Cox Trans Youth Doc Air Date Announced

MTV and Logo TV have announced plans to simultaneously premiere “Laverne Cox Presents: The T Word,” on Friday, October 17, 2014 at 7 p.m. ET/PT. Hosted and executive produced by Emmy-nominated actress and transgender advocate Laverne Cox, the one-hour documentary will take viewers inside the lives of seven transgender youth, including former ELIXHER intern L’lerrét Ailith. Immediately following the documentary’s premiere, Laverne will host the one hour “Trans Forum” with SuChin Pak live on Logo TV and MTV.com. Laverne will also appear as a special guest on season two of MTV’s “Faking It” earlier in the week. She will play “Margot,” director of Hester High’s elite drama club, on an episode that will air on Tuesday, October 14 at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT on MTV. Be sure to set your DVRs! More on the doc here.

Phoenix Mercury Win WNBA Title

The Phoenix Mercury managed to beat the Chicago Sky, 87-82, without their star center and out athlete Brittney Griner. Griner sat out Game 3 after having eye surgery the previous day (she was hit in the right eye in Game 2). The Mercury finished the 2014 season with a combined 36-6 record, claiming the third title in franchise history. Griner, a key player that has brought visibility to the sport and served as a role model for young girls, helped the team achieve one of the more impressive runs ever seen by the league. Siya Gets in Touch With Her Feminine Side

Kin4Life Member Nor Walks the Runway at New York Fashion Week

During New York Fashion Week, Nor from lesbian hip-hop group Kin4Life walked the catwalk for three clothing lines, including Speechless Vulgarity. The artist was unexpectedly picked up by two additional designers (Coat of Arms by Krish and an HBO docuseries by Blake Martin), reports The Fab Femme. “I didn’t expect to work with three different designers,” Nor explained. “Everything manifested itself. Positive thinking created this opportunity.” Check out some of her looks below.
