Raven Symone Steps “Out” For Outfest
Child star Raven Symone recently attended the Legacy Awards Reception for Outfest, a Los Angeles-based nonprofit organization that promotes equality by creating, sharing, and protecting LGBT stories on the screen. (Academy Award-nominated and openly gay filmmaker Lee Daniels received the Visionary Award in recognition of his contribution to LGBT arts and media visibility.)
Raven looked chic in all black and debuted her new do — flowy, side swept tendrils with shaved sides. Although she was without rumored girlfriend AzMarie (our summer 2013 cover girl), she did cozy up beside openly gay Noah’s Arc star Darryl Stephens.
Earlier this year, Raven Symone made waves when she tweeted, ”I can finally get married! Yay government! So proud of you.” Folks speculated that the actress was referring to the Supreme Court striking down the Defense of Marriage Act.
Later, Symone told E! News in an exclusive statement: “I am very happy that gay marriage is opening up around the country and is being accepted. I was excited to hear today that more states legalized gay marriage. I, however am not currently getting married, but it is great to know I can now, should I wish to.”
