Robin Roberts In ‘Good Housekeeping,’ Talks Coming Out on Her Terms
Out TV anchor Robin Roberts graces the most recent cover of Good Housekeeping. Inside, the cancer survivor and Good Morning America co-host opens up on why she waited to speak so publicly about her orientation and relationship.
“News flash: Some people like their anonymity,” she shares in the glossy. “This is what’s right for me.”
She went on to say: ”Love is love, and I’m grateful to have that. Sometimes there’s a stigma attached to how people view you if you’re living a certain way. But I don’t care — you gotta live your life. You gotta find what happiness is and what it means for you, and you can’t get caught up in what someone is saying about you on Twitter. You don’t go through a year like I did to not be happy and not make your own choices.”
Last December, Roberts took to social media to thank her longtime girlfriend Amber Laign for her support. In a touching end-of-year message posted on Facebook, Roberts acknowledged her battle with cancer and loved ones that have helped her along the way. She later posted a photo with her partner and talked openly about their relationship for the first time on-air.
