The Lipstick Femme Revolution: New Campaign Promotes Femme Visibility

ELIXHER

“For years, I felt like a one-woman army fighting against stereotypes of extremely feminine lesbians,” explains Chanel Brown, star of Showtime’s The Real L Word and a self-described “lipstick femme.” Now she’s starting a revolution. Brown is calling out all feminine-presenting lebians to help prove “we’re here, we’re queer and we look damn good doing it.”

Beginning this month, she is reaching out to collect stories and pictures of 1,000 feminine lesbians globally. Utilizing social sites, she wants to create an organized home where people can meet, exchange experiences, and ideas all for the purpose of creating stronger visibility and acceptance of feminine lesbians.

“This moment is for the feminine lesbian,” Brown tells ELIXHER. “Let us come together and command our presence be felt.”
