WWE Star Darren Young: ‘I’m Gay’
WWE superstar wrestler Darren Young publicly came out as gay during an unplanned interview with the news entertainment website TMZ late Wednesday. He is the first openly gay wrestler in the organization — which is the premier professional wrestling company — according to a tweet by WWE Executive Vice President Stephanie McMahon. Young made the statement while at an airport baggage carrousel in Los Angeles after being asked if “a gay wrestler could be successful within the WWE.”

The trailblazing strategist behind the 1963 March on Washington will this year be posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom. That’s a long way from the days when civil rights activists counted on Bayard Rustin’s hard work, but tried to push him aside because he was gay. For 60 years, Rustin fought for peace and equal rights — demonstrating, organizing and protesting in the United States and around the world.

Good to the Last Drop
After nearly 10 years of steamin’, the news and politics blog Pam’s House Blend published its last post July 1. Comments posted to the Blend on that final day reflect ubiquitous gratitude for the distinctive forum offered to LGBT people who didn’t always feel at home in mainstream gay digital spaces. While the Blend never inhabited a brick-and-mortar headquarters, it unequivocally became the go-to locale for news, discussion, and exploration of identity inside a community that was all too often portrayed as monolithic.

Why Raven Symone’s Coming-Out Helps Black LGBTs
The simple act of coming out can be revolutionary. As the late great Harvey Milk said, gay people should come out to “break down the myths, destroy the lies and distortions.” Just by coming out, Raven-Symone has proven that anybody can be gay, including a former Disney Channel star. The bravery of other Black LGBT people such as Jason Collins, Frank Ocean and Brittney Griner helped Raven-Symone and other Black LGBT youth feel more comfortable with coming out.
