Writer and director Issa Rae, mastermind behind the hit webseries The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl, is executive producing Words With Girls, a new show following three roommates navigating the Los Angeles lesbian scene. Touted as the offspring of shows Girls and The L Word, Words With Girls is written and created by Black lesbian comedian Brittani Nichols, who also plays the part of Aspen. The team at Color Creative TV (Issa Rae’s production company that works to increase opportunities for women and people of color in programming) are pushing for the pilot to get picked up by a television network. Hello Brittani and Issa,
I’m you’ve both already considered this, but as I watched the pilot, I thought that this would be perfect as a HULU series. As an organizer of the New England Professional Queer Women of Color, I’d also like to look into doing a screening and panel discussion here in Boston.
Best of luck with the pilot.
